Hello all--

Took a quick trek in the McKeldin area of Patapsco Valley State Park (Carroll County), which yielded most of the usual suspects, including a nice view of a Pileated Woodpecker, only one thrush (Wood), and nine species of warbler-- the best of which was BLACKBURNIAN and Chestnut-sided Warbler.

More interestingly, to me at least, was hearing GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS sound off along Ward's Chapel Road between Marriottsville and Liberty Road as I was driving to McKeldin. They were singing in the open fields across from residences. This is still Baltimore County along this stretch, and I don't recall ever hearing them on Ward's Chapel. But, if they are indeed hanging around on Ward's Chapel, nearby Soldier's Delight may worth checking. I've never had Grasshopper Sparrow at Soldier's-- though the habitat seems appropriate.
