Jane Kostenko and I were at St. Mary's College in St. Mary's City yesterday 
afternoon and again this morning. Both days, we heard a Northern Bobwhite 
calling from North Field (just north of the college across the bridge by the 
marsh), and this morning another bird calling from the soccer field on the south 
side of Mattapany Road near the intersection with College Drive. It's sad that 
this is noteworthy but I'm not sure if NOBOs can still be found in the Scotland 
area of St. Mary's County. This is the first time we've heard NOBOs at St. 
Mary's City for at least a decade, probably closer to two.

We were wondering, if the birds disappear then reappear, where do they come 
from? I don't think they're migratory but they must move around some. Just 
curious.
