Hi all,
Just got back late this afternoon from a long weekend away and decided to stop by lake needwood. Of course, as soon as I got there the skies opened up on me, but the shorebirds sure didn't mind. Best was a short-billed dowitcher that dropped in during the rain. Also present were 2 semipalmated plovers, least and semi sands, both yellowlegs (the greater also showing up with a heavy bit of rain), several spotted and solitary sandpipers and a few killdeer away from most of the action. Not sure if I missed something since viewing was pretty difficult in the rain. I was hoping to outlast the showers and get some nice views but had to leave after 45 min or so. With the dredging, the habitat here is just awesome right now. Best area seems to be just north of the island - map link http://goo.gl/maps/8FY3
