I had them at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, all sleeping on the rocks on the east
side of the pond, standing on one foot each and heads tucked. A
Black-crowned Night Heron was about 10 feet away in a snag. I recommend
parking on the north side of the park (I think that's Baltimore Street)
about at the park's midpoint...and then just walk straight south to the
pond. It's not far.

Also, there are some GREAT Serviceberry trees on the east side of the pond
that are just bursting with ripe berries...they are delicious! The robins
and mockers and catbirds were just hammering them.

Hi Eileen,

Patterson Park is a small urban park in downtown Baltimore. You can't
drive through the park, so just park on one of the streets bordering it
and walk in. There is a single small pond southwest of the center of
the park where there are lots of Mallards and (hopefully) the BBW
ducks. There is a trail bordering it. Just walk around the pond on the
trail and look for the ducks. When I was there Saturday afternoon, they
were in plain sight standing in the shallow water on the southern edge
of the pond (though only visible from the east side). There was also an
adult Black-crowned Night Heron and several Warbling Vireos singing.

Good birding!
