Just wanted to share highlights at Little Bennett Regional Park (northern
Montgomery County) this past week.

Lewisdale Trail on Sunday afternoon 6/5:

- Willow Flycatcher (nest-building)
- Baltimore Oriole (female and second-year male)
- Yellow-breasted Chat (heard only)
- Yellow Warbler (lovely male)
- possibly a Blue Grosbeak (almost positive I heard both song and call
notes, but never saw him)

Kingsley and Froggy Hollow Trails on Tuesday 6/7 and Saturday 6/11 (birds
encountered on both days):

- KENTUCKY WARBLER frequently singing between Kingsley and Froggy Hollow
trails (roughly 3/4 of the way to the schoolhouse)
- Yellow-billed Cuckoo (heard only)
- Scarlet Tanager (3)
- Eastern Wood-Pewee (3)
- Acadian Flycatcher (several)
- Baltimore Oriole (1)
- Ovenbird (several)
- Wood Thrush (3+ males singing along Froggy Hollow trail)
- Ruby-throated Hummingbird (seen and heard in several locations but
difficult to estimate actual density)

Fledged families recently encountered along Kingsley and Froggy Hollow
include Louisiana Waterthrush, Ovenbird, Hairy Woodpecker, Blue-gray
Gnatcatcher, Carolina Wren, Eastern Phoebe, Indigo Bunting (feeding a
cowbird), and Northern Parula (so far only feeding cowbirds; I'm waiting for
parula fledglings!).

One of the waterthrush families (with well-flighted fledglings) is still
easily found via chip calls and begging sounds, downstream and upstream of
the area where the stream is directly adjacent to Kingsley Trail. There's
also an Ovenbird family (again, well-flighted fledglings) on Froggy Hollow
trail, along the swampy tributary beyond the schoolhouse.

Good birding!
