On my Oldtown BBS route this morning (13 June, 2011), I heard a Red-headed
Woodpecker calling at stop 35.  Because there were two Chats singing there, I
remained skeptical (many of their calls were rather RHWO-like), so after the
stop, I drove up a short ways to a small dirt road on the East where I could see
an obvious large dead tree about 100 yds away.  There, sitting at a hole in the
tree was a RHWO!  One might assume this to be a nest, but I didn't have time to
confirm.  In my experience this is a hard bird to find in Allegany Co.  If there
are any county listers out there who might want to try for this, it is 4.38
miles from Bill's in Little Orleans on Oldtown Orleans Rd SE. at 39d 37m 31s
-78d 26m 54.6s.
