I birded the Thurmont Vista Trail Sunday. Scarlet tanagers were in good numbers throughout. The area around Wolf Rock was surprisingly birdy with singing black-and-white and worm eating warblers, redstart, several oven birds, adult and juvenile wood thrush, and a singing chipping sparrow in the pines on top of the rock. Also a good escape from the heat.

The boat launch and dam areas at Hunting Creek Lake had more redstart and active swallows.
