Here is another addition to the flock of Dickcissel reports of
recent days - this morning, 13 June 2011, there was a Dickcissel in my yard,
calling several times from the top of a locust tree beside my garage. This
became yard bird number 187 for the property. We moved here on 30 June
1995, so have been here nearly 16 years. After that amount of time, new
yard birds are pretty hard to come by.
Our location is in the village of Copperville, beside Leeds Creek,
(near Tunis Mills) Talbot County.
Something certainly has brought the Dickcissels into the area
after the intense heat wave.
And, for the second time this year, Bobwhite Quail were heard
calling from the property this morning.
