Yesterday afternoon my husband and I took a walk at Lilypons Water 
Gardens (Frederick County) -- highlight was a Virginia Rail (heard 
only). The bird called twice, and, frustratingly, sounded only about 20 
feet away within very dense vegetation at a pond edge! I haven't gotten 
a good look at one in several years.
