Last night I was suffering a bit of insomnia, but I am happy for it now. At
about 2:40 am I heard a Barred Owl calling "Who Cooks for You" very close.
Sounded like (s)he was in one of the trees in my yard. After a few calls, I
started to hear a distant "Hoowah" in reply. Each time the near bird
called, the reply would be louder and start sooner until they were right by
each other and starting almost simultaneously.

Then there was a barrage of hoots, hollers, barks and squeaks for 10-15
seconds, and everything went silent again.

I am pretty sure we will be having little owlets soon.

Alan
