I recently experienced the phenomenal emergence at dusk of a million bats from
under Congress Bridge in Austin, TX. That was a thrill, but the next night it
paled in comparison to the silent, swirling swell of 10-20 million bats ( I lost
count) from Bracken Cave. Located north of San Antonio, TX near Natural Bridge
Caverns, this cave is owned and protected by Bat Conservation International for
members- only guided spectacles (above ground -- the ammonia inside would knock
you out.)

I had hoped to see a painted bunting, my former Bowie yardbird, while in TX, no
luck there but did see a couple roadrunners.

So George, I'm good for $100.
