Below is my eBird report from yesterday.

Jay Sheppard has been at Oxbow Lake for about 45 minutes this morning and just confirmed one Least Bittern. He said he will be sitting at the SE Observation Point for about another 25 minutes in case anyone is in the area and wants to stop by.

Comments: Jay Sheppard and I visited the Oxbow in the late afternoon. We
started out on Big Pool Bluff and scanned the lake area. At one point, I heard
something that sounded like "kow kow kow" coming from the area off Gallinule
Point. Jay did not hear it at that time. The American Coot was sighted feeding.
We moved onto the other side of the lake. Not much was happening. Just as we
were getting ready to leave the SE Observation Point area, I sighted what I
think might have been two Least Bitterns. They were flying from right to left
when one made a beeline into a spadderdock island just off the tip of Gallinule
Point. I didn't see where they other landed. We watched for about another half
hour and made no additional sightings. As we were walking the trail back to the
entrance, Jay heard another "kow kow" coming from off the tip of Gallinule
Point. So if you are at Oxbow Lake, keep your ears and eyes open for possibly
Least Bitterns.
