With apologies for a late post, I made a short (0900-1100), illegal foray
into the picnic grounds, along with numerous "locals", to survey the area
that will serve the Balto. Bird Club on its fall schedule of about 9 weeks,
seeking fall migrants, etc.

A super day, with low temp's and a light breeze--a real pleasure to be out
walking. Oh, yes, I did ID 32 spp. of birds, including 4 warblers, during a
walk that extended northward along L. Roland and including the dike
loop.

Best look of the day was a close-up display of the beauteous Baltimore
Oriole early on. Other notables included the G B Heron, Green Heron,
Y-b Cuckoo, Pileated W'pkr, Tree Swallow and House Wren. The four
warblers were: N. Parula and Yellow, Ovenbird and MD Yel'throat. Near
the end of the jaunt, a family of Canada Geese was spotted on the water,
4 adults shepherding a group of 9 adolescents.

Many nice imrovements are evident, including a boardwalk trail leading
westward through the woods toward the light rail Park 'n Ride facility,
which should prove to be a felicitous addition.
