Another look at the latest development by contractors. The wooden foot
path now has a gravel path leading to it, and it is open all the way west
to the parking lot of the Light Rail terminal. This will be a nice addition
to later birdwalks.
Since it was a bit warmer and more humid than a week ago, I stretched my
walk to a slower gait, and took in some additional forrested area (as well
as the new boardwalk). My previous species count was 32. This time, tho'
I whiffed on about 7 previous spp., it was more than made up by addition-
al spp., for a total of 37 spp. These add'l spp. were: G Egret, Wood Duck,
T. Vulture, YB Cuckoo, Downy W'pkr, Flicker, RW and Barn Swallow,
Wood Thrush and Song Sparrow. Only 3 Warblers instead of the previ-
ous 4: N. Parula (3-4 heard), MD Yel'thrt (2) and Ovenbird. The occa-
sional breeze wafting through the mostly shaded walk could be describ-
ed as DELICIOUS--nature's own, inimitable air conditioning.
