Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from July 5,2011

This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
The summary of bird observations that follows was taken by permission
from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and MD Port Administration, July
2011, Fauna Monitoring Report for the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration
Project at Poplar Island.
Note the presence of seven Greater Yellowlegs!(one is great for PI),
Sandwich Tern, Mourning Dove, Short-eared Owl and Carolina Wren. Also not
high numbers of DC Cormorant, Mallard, Osprey, Killdeer, Black-necked Stilt,
Laughing Gull and Red-winged Blackbird.

Weather: Hazy-mostly cloudy am; Sun and cloudy horizon pm,

    Temp: degrees F 72-87

actually recorded presence of five White-rumped Sandpipers on that date.
