Hi Everyone,

Ed Carlson and I checked Swan Creek yesterday (7/13) during a break in the rain. Highlights were a hen NORTHERN PINTAIL, arriving shorebirds, and the first LAUGHING GULLs of the season here. The Northern Pintail was the first summer record in eBird for the county, but Bob Ringler had one other record for this time frame - a drake at Swan Creek from 7/6/2007, found by Matt Grey. Thanks, Bob.  Below is the full eBird list.

Before that, a quick note about the SCAUP that was present at Swan Creek through most of June, seen by many observers while looking for the Black-necked Stilts and Black Rail. There has been some question about the species, so I have changed my reports to "Greater/Lesser Scaup" in eBird to err on the conservative side. If anyone has additional documentation on that bird, please let me know off-line. I'll post a follow-up if we crack the case. Otherwise, I think a change to Greater/Lesser is appropriate.
