Thanks to Mike Ostrowski for doing the lists when we were split in two
vans.   Fridays Aug 12 is nearly full and Oct 7 is half way there.

Mallard  400     Unexceptional.
Surf Scoter  1
White-winged Scoter  1
Ruddy Duck  3
Double-crested Cormorant  2500     Estimate. Unexceptional.
Great Blue Heron  11
Great Egret  4
Snowy Egret  53     Unexceptional at this location and season. Many young birds.
Cattle Egret  32
Black-crowned Night-Heron  1
Osprey  20
Bald Eagle  1
Semipalmated Plover  6
Killdeer  35
Black-necked Stilt  34     Seem to recently have become a regular
breeder at this location. The count was bolstered by several
juvenile/immature birds.
American Avocet  22     Unexceptional for this location and season.
Spotted Sandpiper  19     A nice count, but probably not unusual for
the location and season.
Willet (Eastern)  3
Lesser Yellowlegs  16
Sanderling  18
Semipalmated Sandpiper  1110     Mostly counted by fives. A nice count.
Western Sandpiper  60
Least Sandpiper  200
Stilt Sandpiper  16     Unexceptional for the location and season.

Short-billed Dowitcher (Atlantic)  1
Short-billed Dowitcher (Prairie)  1

Great Black-backed Gull  209     Unexceptional. Attempted to count by
ones, but could easily have missed many of them.
Least Tern  282     A good count. Count by ones.
Caspian Tern  8     Not present two days previous.
Black Tern  3     Unexceptional for the location and season.
Common Tern  82
Sterna sp.  250     Should be on the probables.
Royal Tern  7
Fish Crow  1
Purple Martin  1
Bank Swallow  1
Barn Swallow  28
European Starling 2
Seaside Sparrow  2     Rare in the county, but probably regular and
becoming common at this location. A drab sparrow with a long bill and
staying low in the marsh.
