The Coopers was in the backyard yesterday but apparently did not catch
anything.
This morning I'm beginning to understand why.
His prey is not appropriate!

This AM, standing in the yard fitted out for gardening duty, I heard a
continuous single note call coming from the direction of our Tulip tree. I
looked in that direction. Suddenly a crow, closely followed by the Cooper's,
burst through the branches. I froze. I'm sure my mouth was agape. They flew
by at eye level within a few feet of me .

Both birds flew into the hedge row that run along the edge of the
property. The hawk landed on one of the junk trees continuing that single note
call.

During the last 5 summers, I've watched many pursuits of these beautiful
birds chasing their prey. Occasionally they give a longer variation but I've
never heard this continuous, single note call before.
The crow disappeared.
