The last week or so I've enjoyed watching the egrets come in for the eve to roost at Jug Bay. It's been about ten or so birds, until today. This evening from 7:45 - 8:00 I saw a nice batch of migrants while I ate dinner on the porch!

Great Blue Heron 4
Great Egret 28
Snowy Egret 1

They are coming in from where ever, and roosting on the AA side along the shore of the Jug Bay Wetland Sanctuary at the river farm. Best view would be from Jackson Landing (PG County), if it is open, JBWS pier (AA County), if it is open, or otherwise you might try walking in from the gate at Mount Calvert (PG side).

Also enjoyed listening to a very vocal RE Vireo and Wood Thrush singing this eve; along with others. I'm not sure I recall WOTH singing in August, but I know the RE Vireos sing all summer.

I'll be off now for a week of vacation at OBX NC; good luck to all in the meanwhile

Cheers-
