Hi all,
The Bowens and I did a little birding in Anne Arundel and Prince George's Counties today. We visited the Swan Creek Dredge area in Anne Arundel County first. All the regulars were there, no Dowitchers or Ruddy Turnstone. We did identify a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL in the South Cell and there were 2 GLOSSY IBIS in the wetland. They were doing work that required large, noisy equipment in the North cell, which cut down the shorebird numbers. Then we went to the Patuxent Research Refuge - South Tract in Prince George's County, hoping that the lake waters might have receded, providing some shorebird habitat - no such luck. Behind the Visitor Center, we encountered 2 BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS on their way south, no doubt.
