Assateague - Bayside 8/8/11

As Ed mentioned, I enjoyed a nice morning flight at Bayside yesterday.  I arrived at 6am, just as the heron flight was getting started and Ed and Jim showed up around 7:45 or so.  Starting around 6:30, American Redstarts started flying over head, with several landing in the trees at the point.  Given the early date, I wasn't expecting the variety or numbers, but I still don't know if this was a "good" day or not.  There just isn't enough data from the first half of August to know what should be expected.  

I do believe that the Dickcissel and Black-throated Green Warbler were rather early.  Hopefully Mark Hoffman can confirm if Worcester has any earlier fall records of either.  Otherwise, the warblers that we did see are known to be early migrants.  I was surprised not to see any Prothonotary Warblers, I've had them quite regularly in August on Assateague.
