On August 21st, 2008 a male Rufous Hummingbird visited a feeder in Southern Anne Arundel County for one brief day.
Just a hopeful reminder that the season of wayward humming (and other varieties of) bird is upon us!
In other news, my jury duty scheduled for yesterday was postponed until Thursday.
I decided to visit some schools in Wicomico & Worcester Counties to check on back-to-school orders. Wouldn't you know it, I just happened to drive by Log Cabin Road while in the county. Sadly, there was no visible AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER, but as Ron mentioned, the habitat looked great. A few Least Sandpipers, loads of Killdeer and Horned Lark mingled about in the turned up field, but nothing Golden.
At the coast, a MARBLED GODWIT and a PIPING PLOVER were present on Assateague, easily viewed (after checking in) from the Castaways Campground viewing platform.
Lastly, sunrise yesterday at Sandy Point SP produced a PECTORAL, LEAST, SEMIPALMATED & two SPOTTED Sandpipers.
Good Birding,
Dan
