Hi all,

Another trip out to Poplar Island found shorebird numbers rather low
despit the habitat looking great -- the rains of the last few days really
have
helped. Most shorebirds were worn adults so the juvies are still to come.
Unfortunately, the Hudsonian Godwit seen on two recent trips was not
recorded but participants had great views of LEAST BITTERN in the scope
and two VIRGINIA RAILS crossing the road! A young YELLOW-CROWNED
NIGHT HERON was a good find. We also had some spectacular flying by
a Peregrine Falcon in close (but unsuccessful) pursuit of a young Black
Tern. Only some of the group saw the single worn adult White-rumped
Sandpiper which Jim Stasz picked out after most had already boarded the
bus, since it decided to fly off almost immediately -- flashing its white
rump.

Joe Hanfman kept the tally and entered it into eBird -- thanks Joe! -- and
the full list is below.
