Hi all,

I birded various places this past weekend, I started at Point Lookout State
Park on Saturday (20 August) and ended up in Garrett County Saturday night
into Sunday (21 August). At Point Lookout, the morning started great with a
calling flyover UPLAND SANDPIPER pre-dawn at the point, there were a few
warblers calling too, but they thinned out as the sun came up. EASTERN
KINGBIRDs put in a good show, and there were still a decent number of
ORCHARD ORIOLEs around for the date. Scoping the bay turned up one BLACK
TERN among the many COMMONs as well as 3 SANDWICH TERNs. I lucked into some
small groups of migrants in the scrub north of picnic area, and though the
number of individuals was low the diversity was pretty good, I ran into Fred
and Jane Fallon and we were able to turn up a few more birds.

I birded Piney Reservoir (Garrett CO) on Saturday night, where many of the
previously mentioned shorebirds were still present. Dawn at Finzel on
Sunday was quite rewarding with low numbers, but decent diversity,
highlighted by an early adult male CAPE MAY WARBLER. I checked Youghiogheny
Reservoir and had similar numbers and species as those reported earlier in
the week. When it started raining I checked as many bodies of water as I
could, but did not turn up any really interesting birds.
