I have posted some photos of the Franklin's Gull here:

https://picasaweb.google.com/hafner.matt/FranklinSGullInHavreDeGrace

It looks to me that Monroe photographed a different bird that appears to be a Laughing Gull. I think the differences can clearly be seen in the overall size and the hood pattern.

At that distance, when the gulls are sitting on the flats, the subtle shape and size differences from a Laughing Gull may not always be obvious. It may be worthwhile to wait to see it fly and look for the diagnostic wing pattern.

I heard no positive reports of the bird from today.

Good luck to anyone who tries for it!

I think I got some long range photos of the gull yesterday. They are posted
at http://Monroe.20m.com/franklingull.htm . Feel free to let me know if I
mis-identified it.
