This morning there were three Black-crowned Night Herons at Schoolhouse Pond in their usual tree (on the lefthand side of the short boardwalk spur leading to the office townhouses). They consisted of an adult, a 2nd summer bird, and a juvenile. Other birds included a Double-crested Cormorant, several Phoebes and Pewees, several Gray Catbirds, five Barn Swallows, and six Tree Swallows. Also flying over were an Osprey, an adult Bald Eagle, and three Laughing Gulls. Gulls have begun flying over in small numbers again in the mornings. Last Thursday (8/19), a group of 50+ Laughing Gulls flew overhead, along with two Herring Gulls.
