Gail provides some good suggestions, however the small parking lot by
the "waves and gulls" sculpture no longer exists. It was removed during
the renovation of the Humpback Bridge. You could park on the opposite
side of the Parkway in the LBJ grove/Columbia Island marina and then
cross. They are discouraging crossing the Parkway on foot, but I'm not
sure if the bike/ped path under the bridge is open yet.

I stayed at Hains Pt. until 10:20 this morning, but it was quite slow.
Nothing as interesting as the avocets seen earlier. After directed to
leave the tip because they were closing the gate, I parked in the tennis
court lot on Buckeye and then walked to the river. It provides a decent
vantage point.

Good luck. I plan to head out first thing tomorrow and will post if I
find anything interesting.

Good birding,
