Belatedly, here are photos of the Royal Tern at Violette's Lock, observed by Jared Fisher, James Moore, Dave Powell, Marcia Balestri, Kathy Clavert and others.

Around 9AM it lifted off and headed downriver. We figured it was gone for good. It reappeared around noon and again at 3:30. In between it vanished downstream, upstream, and into the golf course lakes on the VA shore.
