Hi all,

Slower day than hoped-for -- and despite Irene, not much change in the
cast of characters. Oh well...maybe tomorrow...

Best bird was a probable ALDER FLYCATCHER -- see below.

Birds of interest:

Green Heron - 4
Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
Belted Kingfisher - 1
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 8 (two fighting with squeaks and
"chest-bumps" over some yellow flowers, although there seemed to be
plenty for everyone!)
Eastern Wood-pewee - 10 (including family party of 4)
Acadian Flycatcher - 1
"Traill's" Flycatcher - probable ALDER based on thin but obvious eyering
with paler lores, contrasting with darker crown and nape, greenish tone to
back, long primary projection -- in all, a brighter and more "contrasty"
bird
compared to the probable Willows we've been seeing.
Empid sp. - 1
Great Crested Flycatcher - 1
Yellow-throated Vireo -- 1 (singing)
Red-eyed Vireo - 10
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 6
Chestnut-sided Warbler - 2
Magnolia Warbler - 1
Canada Warbler - 2
Common Yellowthroat - 4
American Redstart - 4
Eastern Towhee - 3
Chipping Sparrow - 10+

A large decline in Robins and Catbirds, no Swifts or Swallows...
