Hi All,

I went down to try to relocate the shorebird flock reported yesterday by Wayne at the RFK Stadium parking lot. While yesterday I struck out, today there were three species: 3 Sanderlings, half a dozen Semipalmated Sandpipers and 54 Least sandpipers.  All were actively feeding in the largest puddle at the far end of the Parking lot.  This lot is accessible just east of Oklahoma Ave, NE (and seen from Benning Rd.).

While I've seen resting Least Sandpipers here before, nearly all the birds were very actively feeding and chasing each other.  Who knows what they're eating, but they seemed to like whatever it was!

Thanks Wayne for yesterday's Heads up!

P.S. High tide was 10:30 am Tuesday, and 11:30 am today, so if they are being "pushed" by rising tides into the parking lot, it would be interesting to see if anyone sees them tomorrow morning...
