I had the chance to go to Swan Creek this morning. The highlights was one American Avocet, eight Black Terns, and six or so White-rumped Sandpipers. Other birds seen included 31 Caspian Terns, 15 or so Laughing Gulls, large numbers of Mallards, and one Blue-winged Teal. Other shorebirds included Least Sandpipers, Semipalmated Sandpipers, two Western Sandpipers, two Spotted Sandpipers, one Sanderling (juvenile), two Semipalmated Plovers, both yellowleg species, and Killdeer. Also of note were hundreds of swallows (mostly tree, barn, and rough-winged) flying over the mudflats and ponds.
