We biked the canal from Great Falls to Riley's Lock and nothing appeared to
be closed. There were people entering from Pennyfield as well as Swains .

Subject: [MDOSPREY] No access to C&O Canal in Montgomery County

I went out to several locations along the C&O Canal in Montgomery County
this morning, Saturday, to scout for a bird walk I am scheduled to lead
tomorrow. Access to the Canal towpath is officially closed at all the
locations I checked. I talked to a Park Service employee at Pennyfield
Lock, and she indicated that the area would be closed tomorrow, Sunday, as
well. Apparently there a lot of damage in many places along the towpath
from the heavy rain.
