75th Anniversary Bird Walks at Patuxent Research Refuge

As part of Patuxent’s 75th Anniversary celebrations, bird walks will be offered on the normally-closed Central Tract of the Refuge.  The walks will be led by biologists of the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center and are by reservation only.  Walks are being offered exclusively to Patuxent staff and volunteers and to members of the Maryland Ornithological Society.
 
WHAT:   Patuxent 75th Anniversary Birdwalks
WHERE:  Central Tract of Patuxent Research Refuge (Intersection of MD Rt. 197 and Powder Mill Road)
WHEN:  Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 7:00 AM.  Access will be provided between 6:45 and 7:00 AM.  (Late arrivals will NOT have access.)  Walks should be over by 10:00 AM 
RECOMMENDATIONS:  Appropriate clothing (long pants, closed-toed shoes), insect repellant, water, snacks if needed, binoculars and field guide.
RESERVATIONS:  Call 301-497-5887 to register.  Give your name, organization (staff, volunteer, MOS), and phone number.  Spaces are limited, so register early.
