Phil,

Advance purchased tickets will get you a seat, however they usually don't have the logistic ability to just move showings around based on ticket sales for one showing. A run us usually set for a specific theater based on projected attendance and contractual agreements with the studios.

If there were numerous advance purchases for the entire week, that might be another story, but I doubt even that would change things for the first week due to the way that films are booked into the theaters. This would be different if a special showing were arranged and these are usually done during the week, specifically Wednesday and Thursday nights, and they are usually local premieres arranged through the studios and promoted through local radio stations through give aways.

It's a fun idea though to get a large group of birders into the same showing. Have you actually talked to the manager of this theater to discuss the idea? We might be able to buy out the theater in advance for a specific showing.

Hi Maryland birders:

Tickets. I recommend purchasing tickets in advance since the theater
will also be open to the general public. As advance ticket sales
increase, the theater may move this showing into a larger auditorium
(their largest holds about 460 people!) Tickets can be purchased
either in person at their box office or via various on-line ticketing
web sites, such as Fandango.com.
