My husband and I birded Susquehanna SP this AM. I was commenting to him how slow it was, and then the magic seemed to happen suddenly. I looked up in the sky and saw a kettle of BROADWING HAWKS, and just systematically started counting them. Then another kettle, then another and another-in 30 min. time we counted 352 BROADWING HAWKS!!!! I was in my glory. One kettle after another, it didn't seem to stop. It was between 8:25 and 8:55, at the pond near the picnic area. How spectacular! I'm curious to see how the hawk watches did today; I can imagine it must have been a good flight day. We also had a MERLIN and a RED SHOULDERED HAWK. As far as other migrants, we did better with warblers at Rock Run. Best birds were a WILSON's WARBLER, a KENTUCKY WARBLER and a possible YELLOLW BELLIED FLYCATCHER.
