We are attempting to run a somewhat impromptu pelagic out of Lewes, DE on
Saturday, November 19. We will need a minimum of 25 people to make the trip
sail. The timing of this trip is meant to coincide with large numbers of
migrating seabirds.

One hope for the trip is to see if we can find a Great Skua. This species
pretty much disappeared from our waters with the disappearance of the large
trawler fleet due to the collapse of the large ground fisheries they caused.
Our hope is that the best shot now would be to find one following the
large flocks of gulls and Gannets that follow the massive schools of
baitfish moving through our area in the fall. Other birds we hope to find
include Manx and Great Shearwaters, Northern Fulmar, Red Phalarope,
Black-legged Kittiwake, and other uncommon gulls such as Glaucous, Iceland,
and Lesser Black-backed. Large numbers of more common seabirds such as
loons, cormorants, scoters, and other waterfowl should also be seen. With
the amount of migrating bait, it's also a good time to look for cetaceans
including Fin, Humpbacked, and Minke Whales along with Common Dolphins.

Our planned itinerary is to sail offshore to any area known as the 30 Fathom
Line and out as far as 50 miles or so. It's here that we're most likely to
encounter boats dragging for scallops and hopefully attracting numbers of
birds. We'll also be searching for any areas that hold large migrating bait
schools. We expect to be in both Maryland and Delaware pelagic waters.

The trip cost is $165, and the boat sails at 6:00 AM returning at roughly
6:00 PM. To make a reservation, go to our web site or you can contact us by
phone or e-mail at

Hope to see you aboard.
