Hi again,
I apologize for not sending better information last night. I was a bit wiped after the busy weekend. Now however, I will add to yesterdays list with one from today and divulge the location and habits and otherwise detailed information on two of the rarer birds.
Nashville Warbler- 2 seen today. A pair of extremely small tubby warblers primarily yellow on breast and white on belly with yellow undertail and rather short tail and bill. Drab olive above with hints of a faint grayish hood. Very bold buffy eyering. They fed with a mixed species flock consisting of other warblers, chickadees and pewees. Both days they were encountered on the south side of the community garden in the lowest branches of the willow oaks, elms and the extremely damp weedy compost heap. Pumped tail frequently. Fairly vocal giving high sharp cheet note at regular intervals.
Gray-cheeked Thrush- Fairly large and elegant thrush. Very cold plumage tones. Heavily spotted, dark and bold malar streak, virtually nonexistent eyering. Seen feeding with Am. Robins, Swainson's Thrushes and Wood Thrushes at the north end of the park around the pine trees near the maintenance yard all the way along that fence line to the old Casino building. Fairly quiet and skittish, seem to flush before other thrushes and most often silently. Heard calling only twice. A slightly down-slurred and nasal pveeer.
