Inspired by Mike Hudson's posts, I visited Patterson Park this morning in hopes of seeing some of the migrants he reported. I may not have looked in the right places, as it was relatively quiet, but I was slightly surprised to see two YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERs in dead branches of a tree near the old casino. I know it's not one for the record books, but I thought others might be interested that this species is making its return appearance to our area.
