Hi all,

Back from our big trip and back to Wheaton park to see that the season
has definitely changed! The dark morning did not lead to any great
numbers of migrants but persistance paid off. The most interesting bird
was a rather late Archilochus hummingbird at Brookside Nature Center --
only brief glimpses as it fed in touch-me-not near the parking lot but it
looked grayer on underparts and head than expected for Ruby-throated.
Better views (and photos) would be needed however to be sure if it's
something unusual.

Otherwise, 10 species of warbler and a smattering of other migrants -- if
we get some sun it could get pretty active, lots of food about.

Birds of interest:

Great Blue Heron - 1 imm.
Red-shouldered Hawk - 2
Chimney Swift - ca. 10
Archilochus hummingbird - 1
Eastern Phoebe - 4
Blue-headed Vireo - 1
House Wren - 2
Swainson's Thrush - 1
Brown Thrasher - 1
Tennessee Warbler - 1
Nashville Warbler - 4
Chestnut-sided Warbler - 1
Magnolia Warbler - 5
Black-and-White Warbler - 2
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 3
Blackburnian Warbler - 1
Black-throated Green Warbler - 2
Ovenbird - 1
Common Yellowthroat - 5
Scarlet Tanager - 1
Eastern Towhee - 3
Chipping Sparrow - 1
Swamp Sparrow - 2
Rose-breasted Grosbeak - 5 (most were fly-overs)
