Late this afternoon I saw (and heard) a very high flying flock of Canada Geese, say perhaps 20 birds or so, heading westerly, but mixed in with the flock was a tiny duck or goose. I've never seen a duck flying that high with Canada Geese, so would've first thought Cackling Goose, but it was really small. It flew like a goose (same wing cadence, etc. as the rest of the flock) and looked like a perfectly proportioned very tiny Canada Goose (long-necked, unlike a duck), but as it would've been a new yard species (and I already had one toay, so I didn't want to push my luck), I did not call it.
I was watching it with binoculars outside my shop, taking a small break from hand-sanding a night stand, when my wife came down from the house and said, "stop looking for number 141!", and I said that I think I just had it. Oh well, without any field marks besides what I've reported, it will have to go down as unknown. But interesting, very interesting.
