I echo Patricia's words; it was a wonderful evening!  My non-birding son (potential there!) came with me.  He cracked up when the guy's ringtone was "Bird is the word" by the Trashman, one of his favorite songs.  After the movie, we drove home and my son asked me-one of those touching Mom/Son moments: " Mom if you didn't meet Dad, and got married, would you be a big birding guide?"  Uhhh.......

A big thank-you to Phil for organizing the get-together to see the movie--it was so much more fun than if I had seen it with
non-birding friends.  Meeting Greg Miller and hearing some of his stories was also wonderful.  I wish MOS would get him for a conference, to tell us all about the making of the movie, and his experience being their bird consultant.  It's obvious they took his advice a lot (tho not in every case--scenery and drama won out in choice of that great grey owl in VA, clearly!). 

I think people who don't bird will enjoy the movie, but it does add another level to recognize just how spot-on a lot of the  scenes  really are--the mad dashes, the just-missed rarity, or the one that turns out to be right over your head, and just the excitement of it all.  Great evening!
