MOS had Greg for a conference, the one in Solomon's Island when I was
president and I asked him to please come share his exploits, which he had
shared with us in real time on MDOsprey.

I got a lot of grief for that from the people who think big-time listing is
a crime against conservation or something...sigh.

A big thank-you to Phil for organizing the get-together to see the movie--it
was so much more fun than if I had seen it with non-birding friends.
Meeting Greg Miller and hearing some of his stories was also wonderful.  I
wish MOS would get him for a conference, to tell us all about the making of
the movie, and his experience being their bird consultant.  It's obvious
they took his advice a lot (tho not in every case--scenery and drama won out
in choice of that great grey owl in VA, clearly!). 

 I think people who don't bird will enjoy the movie, but it does add another
level to recognize just how spot-on a lot of the  scenes  really are--the
mad dashes, the just-missed rarity, or the one that turns out to be right
over your head, and just the excitement of it all.  Great evening!
