Hi Folks,

Some birds seen around Anne Arundel County this weekend: on Sat. morning at
Wooten's Landing, a single LINCOLN'S SPARROW was the best find among scores
of more common sparrows. Sand's Road Park produced a slightly better find
with a VESPER SPARROW near the parking area (north side) with large numbers
of mostly Field and song Sparrows. Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary hosted the
juvenile RED-HEADED WOODPECKER in the dead trees at the Beaver Pond, already
reported from the mystery location of JBWS. An afternoon visit to the Swan
Creek facility with Ed Carlson produced a single basic-plumaged
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, contributing to a surprising (for this date) seven
species of shorebird, also including a late Spotted Sandpiper. We also had
our first CANVASBACK of the season there. On Sunday at Swan Creek, Ed and I
enjoyed a BLUE-HEADED VIREO and a pair of CASPIAN TERNs, now getting pretty
late in the season.
