Hi all,

Earlier this afternoon I walked over to Baltimore's Inner Harbor on my
lunch break. The habitat islands in front of the National Aquarium
were quite active. In addition to the usual House Sparrows and
European Starlings, I found a single Gray Catbird, several
White-throated Sparrows, an Eastern Towhee (looking and acting quite
out-of-place), and a late Ovenbird. I don't have the Yellow Book
handy, but the ovenbird seems really late, although it wasn't flagged
in eBird. I was eye-to-eye with this bird for a few seconds but
unfortunately didn't even have my phone with me to take a photo. There
was also a mouse in one of the islands with a curious bald patch on
its back...it almost looked like it had been shaved. Maybe a lab
escapee?

After the aquarium, I headed over to the black locust trees over in
front of McCormick and Schmick's Restaurant on Pier 5. There I found
a probable Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and an unidentified warbler that
looked good for Tennessee. I didn't have bins and both birds were
high in the trees briefly before disappearing.

Good birding,

Sean Stewart
