I didn’t get a great photo of either Vesper sparrow from this morning. The first bird was in the goldenrod swath in the woodstock/99 corner. As I flushed many Savannahs I did see one bird pop out with white outer tail feathers. I honed in on that bird and as I suspected it was a Vesper.
The second bird was in the mown grassy path near the Mountjoy barn. One field mark I always look for that I think is understated is the cheek hook.

Three Vespers this week is exceptional. They have become very uncommon in Howard.
