After Jim left the shrike relocated back to the wetland preserve and spent some time on the first row of trees across from the wet grassy area before disappearing, so the advice to look from Huntmaster Road is well worth taking. Also look out for a bird being attacked by the local Mockingbirds as they don't seem to like the shrike very much. A great bird, thanks Jared.

Clive Harris and I had great looks at the shrike at 5 PM on the other
side of Huntmaster road directly across from the wetland preserve. It
was about 100 feet from the road near the private gravel parking area
for construction vehicles. It had what appeared to be a grasshopper in
its mouth for several minutes, and I wonder if it may have been looking
to set up a larder area somewhere.
Great find Jared! And thanks for creating the excellent map. It's been
a very good year for Montgomery County birding.
Good birding!
