Recently, I visited the enormous nursery in central Anne Arundel
County known as Homestead Gardens. I spoke with their Head Gardener
and Lead Buyer about attracting Western migrant late fall/winter
hummingbirds.

They've agreed to hang a feeder on the property, as well as encourage
their customer to put out (and maybe purchase a new one from HG)
hummingbird feeders this time of year.

I told them that should a hummingbird visit, I would happily come
document it AND publicly spread the news far and wide. In other
words, I sold them on 1.) selling more hummingbird feeders 2.)
attracting potential new business from birders from all over. And 3.)
there would be very few 'access' issues, as most businesses would
gladly welcome any potential new customers!

A win win win... all by simply hanging a feeder and then alerting
their local bird-enthusiast. In this case, me. With all of the color
and blooms from the many plants and flowers spread across acres and
acres, it would seem a passing hummer would find Homestead Gardens
worthy of a visit, right?

Perhaps you might consider stopping by your local nursery or garden
center and pitching the same idea?

Best,
