Black-crowned Night Heron question

A friend of mine (who can't get in to post here) is pretty sure she heard a
Black-crowned Night Heron yesterday when she was birding at Lake
Kittamaqundi. If it were summer she wouldn't have hesitated to call it a
BCNH, but it seems awfully late in the season to have a Black-crowned still
here.

The calls were coming from an area where she has often seen and heard a
Black-crowned in past years, in the trees at the tip of the little
peninsula between the lake and the stream that comes from Wilde Lake (in
front of the Hilton hotel, just past the little bridge).

It called every few minutes for the 20 minutes that she was in the area and
she heard it very clearly, but couldn't catch a glimpse of it (lots of
foliage still on the trees there). When she got home she compared it with
the recordings of BCNH's and said it sounded exactly the same.

Has anyone else heard or seen a BCNH at Kittamaqundi recently? Is it
possible that one is still hanging around this late?

I'll forward any answers to her. Thanks for your help!

Ken
