Not sure who the author was for:
FYI, and sorry for not posting earlier, Lisa and I went looking for the SNBU on
Saturday from 445 to 530 and could not relocate it. Kite guy. Grrrrr

That's sad, but i'm sure the kite guy was legitamately there - assuming he paid his entry fee, if there is such a thing at this time of year at SPSP - too far for me to visit from FRED CO to know :)
Anyway, kite guy probably had no idea he was impeding birders searching for the SNBU. I suggest clueing him in next time and maybe making a convert. Perhaps you did try, to no avail & then i would have to agree - kite guy grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Random observations from the home site:
I watched a wren within the last week (couldn't tell but didn't appear to be a CARO Wren; Winter more likely) rummage around under a piece of decking and emerge with a orb weaver type spider. I had to feel a little sorry for the spider as he was being shaken around by the wren, which flew off before consuming its prey :(
I store my tomato cages (circular hoops made of concrete reinforcing wire with a grid of 5" x 5" openings) on a slab of concrete on their sides one on top of another, up to three high. Thru the winter months for some unknown reason this has had a strange fascination for the sparrow type birds incl Cardinals and white crowned and song sparrows. I don't have a clue what is attracting them, but they seem to be having a good time investigating this unnatural thicket.
