No big deal, but this afternoon around 1:30 p.m. there was one adult blue
morph Snow Goose among hundreds of Canada Geese in the pond on Aldino Road
east of Churchville, MD (MD Route 156). I heard several Killdeer in there as
well, but I was on my way to the airport so I didn't stop to attempt a
count. This is the same place where a similar group of geese and killdeer,
minus the Snow Goose, was seen a couple of weeks ago.

They were gone when I went home just before dark.

FYI, the winds at 3,000 feet were from the west at 31 knots, but the air was
extremely stable, so there was no lift. Wind diminished considerably close
to the ground, but the air was smooth all the way down. I don't know if
migrating birds would think these conditions were favorable, but it's very
unusual to have such stable air with that much wind aloft.
